About G. Creek Construction
Our diverse background of general contracting experience provides us with the skills and knowledge to be proactive contributors throughout the building planning process. We assist in uncovering challenges that later, during construction, could potentially be stumbling blocks. When construction is underway, if there are issues discovered, we discuss them promptly to allow for concise and thoughtful decision-making, in the best interest of the project. Our experience has provided us with innovative and creative problem-solving skills. Our knowledge of Texas specific building requirements is essential to the successful completion of all our projects.
G. Creek is a family-run construction company, incorporated in 1992, fully bonded and insured. G.Creek divides its work between the private sector (tenant improvement, restaurants, offices, medical and ground up) and the public sector (parks, government buildings, utilities) and is a certified Green Builder with the Austin Energy Green Building Program. John and Matt Haralson are the third generation of contractors in the Central Texas area. Their family has been active in the Austin area since 1950, beginning with their grandfather’s company, Clyde Smith Construction and Water Construction, which built 231 water treatment plants in communities across the state before he retired. Until 2008 their father owned Keystone Construction Inc., a mid-sized construction company that specializes in wastewater treatment plants, lift stations, parks, and utility work.
G. Creek believes that an honest relationship with owners and subcontractors is the best and only way to be continually successful in this industry. We believe in treating the subcontractors honestly and equitably so that we may continue to receive good pricing and good service. This allows us to deliver quality, affordable projects to the owner on time and on budget. G.Creek personnel have a wide range of experience. We have experience in residential and historical remodels, tenant finish out, restaurant remodels, churches, government and municipal jobs, and much more. We self-perform most demolition, concrete, framing and drywall, and hardware installation with our own crews. We will work odd hours, nights, and weekends to meet any owner’s schedule.
Incorporated in 1992, we are fully insured and bonded. Our office is centrally located on South 1st Street, with a large construction and storage yard in Dripping Springs.
G. Creek is a Certified Green Builder with the Austin Energy Green Building Program, a member of RECA, BOMA, SMPS and the ACEA.
John Haralson has extensive experience in commercial, municipal, and higher education construction. John got his start on high-end residential projects for 7 years, while in graduate school, before entering the commercial construction field. He is known for his attention to detail and flexibility to meet the needs of our clients.
Upon receiving his MBA, John teamed up with his brother, Matt, to start G. Creek Construction.
John is President of the company and oversees business operations, he also handles bidding and project management duties. He stays up-to-date on all of G. Creek’s projects and is available 24 hours a day to help resolve problems and keep projects on budget and on schedule.
Matt Haralson has extensive experience in site work, concrete, utilities, commercial building, interior finishes, parks, and public work projects. After working for his father in the construction industry and graduating from Texas A&M with a Construction Management degree, Mr. Haralson gained experience as a PM in Dallas, working in the underground utilities and structural concrete industry, before moving back home to Austin.
Matt Haralson is Vice President of the company, and is in charge of estimating and field operations, but also continues to manage several projects and supervise estimating. And like John, he stays up-to-date on all of G. Creek’s projects and is available 24 hours a day to help resolve problems and keep projects on budget and on schedule.

It was a benefit that G Creek took a proactive role in the process of permitting, inspection reports, material testing and project status reports to all concerned citizen boards. In this respect, the Contractor, (Matt Haralson-Principal in charge) went above and beyond the normal responsibilities of their contract.
